COUGARS are out to build on their runaway victory over Sheffield Eagles when they return to action on Sunday.

After clocking up the 24-4 win at the Don Valley Stadium Gary Moorby's side has had to sit out two weekends, but they have been in intensive training while waiting to return to league action.

"We had one or two bumps and bruises so we were happy to have some time off and we have used the break to put in some heavy work in the gym and on the training field," Moorby said.

Despite the recovery period their are still a handful of injuries including Chris Parker who suffered a knee injury during a run out with the club's Under-21 Academy team.

Jordan Ross will also probably be out of action for two more weeks as he works to recover from a foot injury.

Matt Steel, who had a superb game at Sheffield, suffered a sternum injury. He has been undergoing treatment for heavy bruising, but was due to undergo a fitness test last night (Thursday) and Moorby was optimistic that he would be in the line-up for Sunday's game.

"We will be taking the Skolars very seriously and won't be lulled into a false sense of security by our two comfortable wins in the Northern Rail Cup.

"I have seen the Skolars develop over the years and they have been making steady progress. They will have been working on things since the start of the league season and will be determined to take one or two away scalps this season.

"We have to make sure we are not one of their victims and I have told the lads I want a very professional display," he said.

He added: "I think it will be a very tough game, but we have been going well and need to show that our win at Sheffield was not a flash in the pan.

"It is now time to put on a winning display for the fans at Cougar Park," Moorby said.

After putting in superb performances against York City Knights and Workington, but ending up the losing side in both games, they came good against Sheffield. Now they need to show the same commitment and determination against London.

It will also give the team an opportunity to work on new moves they have been planning on the training ground.

"National League 2 is going to be a tough division and it is important we start stringing some wins together," Moorby said.

The Under-18s are in action on Saturday in a 'derby' clash with rivals Bradford Bulls.

"The Academy have been going well so far this season and have been coming up against some tough opposition, but it will be very tough taking on the might of Bradford Bulls - but we hope there will be a big crowd and a superb atmosphere.

"We hope to have plenty of support to get behind the lads," said Jeremy Crowther.
