The season may have petered out with two home defeats but Guiseley were awarded the fair play accolade for the last month of the campaign and that pleased manager Neil Parsley.

"It was nice to pick that up but it can't

compensate for us

finishing tenth in the UniBond Premier after spending seven-eighths of the season in much higher company," said Parsley.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted that my players have conducted

themselves properly on the field and been acknowledged for that. I like to instill that

discipline in the lads. I like to think you can play hard but fair," said the former Leeds United and Huddersfield defender.

"We won the overall fair play league a couple of seasons ago so it isn't something that has just crept into our game. Our chairman Rob Northfield is of the same mind and he congratulated the

players at the awards night last week."

Skipper Jeremy Illingworth picked up the players' player of the year trophy and striker Simon Parke was voted player of the season by the

supporters.

The leading scorer was former Bantam Mark Stuart with a 19-goal haul.

Parsley's main concern over the close season is replacing his assistant Clive Freeman. The No 2 stepped down at the end of the campaign after a 27-year spell in the game.

"I have spoken to a few people I feel would be able to take over Clive's duties but that is as far as it has gone. No one

candidate is foremost in the race, it is something that warrants huge

consideration. We want the right man and I'm working on that because I have only one chance of making the right

appointment."
