Former Celtic winger Bobby Petta is on Colin Todd's summer shopping list.

The Bantams boss has confirmed his interest in Dutchman Petta, who has left Darlington.

But he has ruled out another move for Petta's former Quakers team-mate Matt Clarke.

The left-sided Petta, 30, began his career at Feyenoord before joining Ipswich on a free transfer in 1996, making 87 appearances in three years until Celtic snapped him up.

Having played for the Holland age group sides, he was called up twice by Louis van Gaal for the Dutch national team in 2001 but had to pull out injured on each occasion.

Despite his growing reputation, Petta played only 81 times in almost six years north of the border and was released by Martin O'Neill in November.

Leeds were among a host of clubs interested in signing him at the time, including Southampton, Millwall, Wigan and Gillingham.

He eventually opted for a short-term deal with League Two side Darlington, but his form in the north-east was inconsistent and he was released after playing 12 games.

Todd sees the left wing as one of City's priority areas for strengthening and admitted Petta was a possibility.

"He is certainly one of my targets," he said. "He only went to Darlington to get games and he's a player that I've been looking at."

City had also been looking at central defender Clarke at the start of last season. But Todd has no plans to go back for a player who finished the campaign as Darlington skipper.
