Pakistani and Bangladeshi community leaders came together today to back the Government’s Change4Life campaign to get families eating well, moving more and living longer.
The attended a Change4Life conference at the Pakistani Community Centre in White Abbey Road, to learn more about the obesity problem in Bradford.
Change4Life encourages people to adopt small changes that add up to big health benefits.
The Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities represent 18 per cent of the population in Bradford and statistics indicate they are four times more likely than the national average to suffer from type 2 diabetes and are among the communities at risk of obesity.
Consultant nutritionist Azmina Govindji demonstrated how to give traditional Pakistani and Bangladeshi meals a healthier twist and physical activity expert Halima Khan advised how to put Change4Life activity tips into practice.
