Three robbers, armed with sledgehammers and an axe, escaped with cash after smashing their way into a bank.
Two security guards were delivering money to the Halifax branch in Westgate, Heckmondwike, when the gang struck. The robbers used the axe and sledgehammers to force their way into the bank and took an amount of money from a cash machine inside.
The security guards were unhurt in the robbery.
The suspects fled the scene in a dark Subaru Impreza bearing the false registration plates VV05 ELY. The car was found abandoned in Grovesnor Street, Heckmondwike, a short time later.
Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, or anyone who saw the Subaru in the area before or after the robbery, at about 8.30pm on Tuesday, should contact Dewsbury CID, on (01924) 431012, or 0845 6060606, or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
