A judge has warned a paedophile he faces an “inevitable” prison sentence after he was found guilty of raping a child.
Roger Metcalfe, 63, of Dock Lane, Shipley, was also found guilty by a jury at Bradford Crown Court today of six counts of indecency against a child and six counts of indecently assaulting a child. He was convicted by a majority verdict of ten to two after jurors took more than five hours to reach their verdicts.
Sophie Drake, prosecuting said the offences were carried out between March 1995 and March 1998.
Judge James Spencer QC adjourned sentencing until next month for a report to be compiled into Metcalfe’s health.
But he warned him: “It will be a prison sentence of some length.”
