Cartoons and poetry put up in protest around the dormant Broadway shopping centre site in Bradford city centre are set to be removed.

Australian shopping giant Westfield, which is behind the stalled £320 million development, said it planned to remove all the “graffiti” from the boards.

About six boards have appeared around the site, containing poetry that reflects people’s frustration with lack of progress on the scheme.

A Westfield spokesman said: “We understand the views of the local community and we are already working with the Local Authority to explore how the site can be improved until development can commence.

“A number of interesting options are being investigated and we hope to be able to agree a way forward very soon.”

Julie Stead, who works in the city centre, said: “Whoever is behind these posters has done a terrific job. They are very well made and highlight the true feelings of all Bradfordians.
