Skipton’s Christmas lights this year promise to be bigger and better than ever before.
Following last year’s £60,000 investment by the town council, a further £25,000 has been handed over by Skipton Business Improvement District (BID).
The boost will mean energy-efficient LED lighting being extended from the High Street, Sheep Street and Otley Street to include Newmarket Street, Swadford Street and Keighley Road.
Town council chief officer Dave Parker said the BID money would be spread over three years and would mean the council being able to extend its lease to cover the cost of new lights.
“The extra money has meant that we have been able to expand the new-style lights straightaway this year,” he said.
“We can look forward to an impressive display.”
