Adults with learning difficulties got a surprise when a donkey strolled into their day care centre today.
Claire Wildman, 36, a service user at Shipley Resource Centre in Otley Road, has ‘adopted’ Simon from the Leeds branch of the Elisabeth Svendsen Trust and the charity’s staff arranged for a day trip.
The centre caters for adults with learning difficulties such as cerebral palsy and other conditions which means some users are confined to wheelchairs.
Day care officer Georgie Parkinson said: “A lot of our users like sensory experiences and it’s not every day they get the chance to touch a donkey up close. The look on their faces was out of this world.”
