Servicemen and women who lost their lives in conflict will be remembered this weekend at a number of special ceremonies across the district.

On Sunday, Remembrance commemorations will be held at churches and war memorials across Bradford and beyond.

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Bradford, Councillor John Godward and his wife Jean, will attend the service at the cenotaph in Bradford at 11am, along with the Bishop of Bradford, the Right Rev David James.

Anyone wishing to join the parade should meet at City Hall reception at 10.30am. It will leave City Hall at 10.45am and following the service the Lord Mayor will take the salute at the march past in Centenary Square.

He said: “It is incredibly important for us to reflect and remember the sacrifices that have been made in all conflict.

“It is a great honour to be a part of this ceremony and I welcome anyone who wishes to join us or any of the services taking place.”

Coun Godward will then attend a remembrance service and wreath laying ceremony in the Memorial Gardens at Ilkley which begins at 3pm and lay a wreath.

The Deputy Lord Mayor Naveeda Ikram will attend Shipley’s act of remembrance at the Crowgill Park cenotaph at 10.55am and lay a wreath there.

BURLEY-IN-WHARFEDALE: 10.45am service at St Mary’s Parish Church, followed by wreath laying at the war memorial on Main Street.

CLAYTON: 10.30am service at St John The Baptist, Clayton Lane, followed by walk to the cenotaph in Victoria Park; noon Act of Remembrance and laying of wreaths.

CULLINGWORTH: 10.30am services at Methodist Church, Cullingworth (joint Anglican and Methodist Service); 11am both congregations will proceed to the cenotaph in Halifax Road, for Act of Remembrance and wreath laying.

DENHOLME: 10am service at Denholme Shared Church; 10.45am the parade will assemble at Parkinson Road to walk to cenotaph; 11am Service of Remembrance and wreath laying.

ECCLESHILL: 2.30pm parade assembles by the bowling green and proceeds to Eccleshill war memorial; 3pm Remembrance Service and laying of wreaths.

GREENGATES: 10am church service at St John the Evangelist, Greengates; 10.40am parade to cenotaph, Harrogate Road; 11am wreath laying ceremony; 11.10am parade back to church.

HARDEN: 10.45am assemble at the war memorial; 11am wreath laying ceremony followed by service in Congregational Church, Harden.

HAWORTH: 10.45am service at St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Haworth. Following service, congregation to make their way to the cenotaph; noon Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony.

ILKLEY: 2.25pm parade assembles at car park on Brook Street/The Grove; 2.35pm depart for Memorial Gardens; 3pm Remembrance Service and wreath laying ceremony in the Memorial Gardens.

KEIGHLEY: 9.30am parade assembles at Russell Street, Keighley; 9.40am the parade moves off; 10am Remembrance Service at Keighley Shared Parish Church; 10.40am parade to Town Hall Square; 11am wreath laying ceremony at the cenotaph.

OAKWORTH: 10.45am Remembrance Service and wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial in Oakworth Park.

OXENHOPE: 10.45am Service of Remembrance followed by wreath laying ceremony in St Mary the Virgin Church.

QUEENSBURY: 10.30am parade assembles at Scout HQ, Albert Crescent; 10.45am parade moves off; 10.55am Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the cenotaph; 11.10am parade to Holy Trinity Church for service of Remembrance.

SHIPLEY: 9.45am Remembrance Service at St Paul’s Parish Church, Kirkgate, Shipley, followed by parade to cenotaph in Crowgill Park; 10.55am Act of Remembrance and wreath laying.

THORNTON: 10.45am assemble at Thornton War Memorial; 11am Service of Remembrance and wreath laying.

TONG: 10.45am assemble at War Memorial, at Tong Cemetery; 11am wreath laying ceremony.

WIBSEY: 3pm Act of Remembrance and wreath laying at Wibsey Cenotaph.
