A Bradford printing business is celebrating a successful year.

Since being taken over, Nampak Healthcare has seen the creation of 30 new jobs and investment of more than £4m in state-of-the-art technology.

The company, based in Leeds Road, Idle, prints cartons and patient information leaflets for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

Formerly Storey Evans, until its acquisition by the Nampak Group in 2008, the business has seen its turnover rise from £14m to £19m.

It is now the largest operation in Nampak’s health-care division, employing 210 people.

More than £4m has been invested in the Bradford site, with the purchase of a new press and a straight line crash-lock gluing machine, as well as refurbishment of the factory and offices.

Gerard Harford, Nampak Healthcare UK director, said: “Becoming part of the global Nampak Group has brought the business a number of benefits.

“We have acquired extra business, which is now over £19m in sales with major blue chip customers, which has enabled us to create 30 new roles and give greater security to existing jobs.

“It has also enabled investment in state-of-the-art technology, putting us at the forefront of our marketplace and enabling us to deliver the highest quality products to our customers,. The change in name, in line with the Nampak rebranding this autumn, cements the integration process.”

Nampak Healthcare is backed by the resources of the global Nampak Group.

The group, which operates in 17 countries in Africa and Europe, employs 20,000 staff, exports to more than 60 countries and has an annual turnover of £1 billion.

In 2006 the former Storey Evans company, which was founded in Leeds in 1898, was sold by the Storey family to Northern Irish printing company MSO Group and then acquired by the South African-based Nampak last year.
