Having a baby opened up a new career opportunity for Tyersal couple Jennie-Marie and Richard Glover.
After their son Daniel was born he became the catalyst for a new business venture, Jen and Rich’s Childminding Services.
And it has received support by the Bradford Kickstart enterprise programme, which has helped 950 nearly 1,000 district businesses.
The couple gained national diplomas in home-based childminding and then equipped their large conservatory with a range of play and educational activities.
Shamsul Arafen, a Kickstart adviser with Manningham-based ATL Enterprise, guided them in writing a business plan, while Jen attended several training workshops. They also had help with obtaining marketing materials from Kickstart’s professional services scheme.
The business is growing to the point where it employs two part-time qualified assistants.
Jen said: “Setting up a business can be a challenge but the support and guidance we have received from Kickstart and its partners has been really helpful.
