A house where a woman was killed in a “tragic” fire on Sunday had been the scene of two previous fires, it emerged tonight.
Investigations are continuing into the blaze in Boldshay Street, Barkerend, Bradford, but the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
A West Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said: “We can confirm that firefighters have been called to fires at the same property twice before – on May 24, 2004, and on April 6, 2009. Neither incident was treated as suspicious.
“A full investigation is under way into the cause of Sunday’s fire, but it is not being treated as suspicious.
“We can confirm that the property had working smoke alarms which sounded.
“This was a tragic incident and our thoughts and condolences go to the family and friends of the woman who sadly died.”
Firefighters were called to the property at 6am on Sunday. The blaze started in a bedroom and spread to the roof.
The woman was believed to be the sole occupant of the house and was found dead at the scene by firefighters.
Neighbours said she had lived at the house for more than 20 years.
She was not being named by police until relatives have been informed.
