A firearm is thought to have been discharged during a burglary in Frizinghall, Bradford, early today, police have said.

The front of a property in Hilton Avenue is believed to have been damaged at about 1.30am.

No-one was injured during the burglary, which is being investigated by Airedale and North Bradford CID.

Acting Detective Inspector Alan Flynn, said: "This type of incident is very rare for the area and we are investigating the cause.

"There are no concerns about increased tension in the area. Clearly the possible discharge of a firearm is a serious matter."
