The public have the chance to crown a Bradford-born retail boss as the UK’s business leader of the year.
Peter Marks, chief executive of the Co-operative group, who lives in Bingley, has been nominated in The Orange National Business Awards.
A former pupil at St Bede’s Grammar, Peter spent many years running various Co-op stores in Bradford before taking the top job in 2007.

Other nominees include Ian Cheshire, group chief executive of Kingfisher; Dr John Bird, editor in chief and founder of Big Issue; Dame Marjorie Scardino, chief executive of the Pearson Group; and Sir William Sargent, chief executive of Framestore.
Mr Marks recently picked up the gold cup award for outstanding business achievement following a public vote run by The Grocer magazine.
