Health bosses at NHS Bradford and Airedale are encouraging people in “at risk” groups to have their swine flu jab to reduce their risk of serious illness.
During November, GPs in Bradford and Airedale will be contacting pregnant women and patients with existing health conditions who are eligible for the jab, inviting them to go along to a vaccination clinic.
Dr Anita Sims, public health director for Bradford and Airedale, said: “I would strongly urge anyone who is eligible for a swine flu jab because of other health conditions to get the best possible protection for themselves and their families this winter by taking up the offer from their GP.
“Based on evidence from independent scientific experts, the vaccine is our best way to make sure our most vulnerable patients do not get swine flu and become seriously ill from the complications that may arise from it.
“GPs in Bradford and Airedale are now preparing to deliver the vaccine for patients and we anticipate the first vaccination sessions will be held during mid to late November.”
