Pupils at a Bradford primary school were being given tips on how to stay safe during Halloween in a special assembly today.
West Yorkshire Police School Liaisons Officer PC Ian Walmsley was at Shirley Manor School in Wyke to speak to youngsters about trick or treating.
He said: “Halloween is a time of year when a lot of young people will head off by themselves trick or treating. My advice is to stick to people you know, make sure you have a responsible adult with you, don’t go into houses of people you don’t know and res-pect elderly people in your neighbourhood.”
Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator Catherine Winn was also at the school to unveil a poster she has designed to deter unwanted trick or treaters, which can be displayed in front windows. She said: “A lot of elderly people become anxious at unexpected callers when it’s dark in the evening.”
She is pictured with PC Walmsley and pupils Kennedy Clavin, eight, and Jakub Biskupski.
