A fourth man was today locked up for having sex with a vulnerable young teenage girl who was abused and exploited by a series of older men.

Shafaq Hussain, 21, was jailed for 18 months after a judge accused him of using her for his sexual gratification.

Hussain, of Midland Street, Skipton, pleaded guilty in June to six offences of sexual activity with the girl when she was 14 and 15.

Bradford Crown Court heard he was 18 when they began meeting for sex at the town’s Tasty Spot takeaway where Hussain worked.

Prosecutor Matthew Donkin said the girl, also from Skipton, told police the pair would get stoned and have sex in the storeroom and kitchen while the shop was shut in the day.

Mr Donkin said Hussain had been in phone contact with the girl 998 times between October 2006 and March 2007.

She told police she thought of Hussain as her boyfriend and he had shown her affection.

Hussain’s barrister, Yunus Valli, said his client’s case was totally different from the other defendants who stood trial and were jailed for abusing the girl.

He knew her at school and she was his first girlfriend.

Sex was consensual and Hussain ended the relationship when he suspected she was seeing other young men.

Hussain had no link with the three men already locked up and was not involved in grooming the girl.

Of good character, he was genuinely remorseful and ashamed.

Judge Peter Benson told Hussain he must have known the girl was very vulnerable. She had little or no family support and was effectively running wild.

She and Hussain took cannabis and alcohol and he had sex with her numerous times.

She was susceptible to even the mildest of inducements or pressure.

Hussain’s motive was sexual gratification. He did not view it as a serious relationship and did not want to be seen with the girl.

“You used her and it is as simple as that, in my judgement,” Judge Benson said.

He ordered Hussain to register as a sex offender for ten years.

In July, three men were imprisoned for a total of 18 years for what Judge Benson branded the “calculating and evil” sexual abuse of the girl.

Mohammed Zackriya, 21, of Springfield Road, Keighley, was jailed for eight years for oral rape and five offences of sexual activity with a child.

Mohammed Shabir, 36, a father-of-five, of Hawk Street, Keighley, was jailed for five years for three offences of having sex with the girl at Caesars takeaway restaurant in Newmarket Street, Skipton.

Mohammed Taj, 37, of Broughton Road, Skipton, was jailed for five years for three offences of having sex with the girl in his car.
