Families are invited to dress up for Funky Friday to support Bradford Council’s B-Someone campaign.

Visitors to Allerton Child-ren’s Centre, in Avenal Road, should sport snazzy socks and wear wacky wigs and hairstyles for an activity day for all the family on Friday.

People in the most outrageous outfits win prizes.

There will be taster sessions in disco dancing, making fruit kebabs and face painting from 9am to 3pm.

The first strand of the district-wide B-Someone campaign aims to encourage adults to support children in developing their skills through everyday activities, such as reading, playing counting and cooking.

The event is also a celebration of National Sure Start Week, which started yesterday, highlighting the work being done in children’s centres to support families.

Councillor Michael Kelly, the Council’s executive member for services to children and young people, said: “Funky Friday will be a fun way for families to find out more about the exciting activities at Allerton Child-ren’s Centre throughout the coming months.”
