A Bradford lollipop lady has reached 20-year milestone of helping children cross the road to get to school.

Pauline Tennant, 60, has loved every minute of her two decades helping children safely to class and is a valued asset of St John’s CofE Primary School, formerly Broomwood Middle School, Dudley Hill.

She said: “I love it. I love the children, they make it worth it, I’m watching them grow up and now some of them are bringing their own children.”

Parent Karen White, whose son Marshall, seven, goes to the school, said: “She stands on that roadside seeing children across the road come rain, shine or snow – I wouldn’t last a week.

“She is a wonderful woman and she’s got time for everyone.”

Head teacher, Elizabeth Lawley, said: “Pauline is a very reliable and dependable lady and what an achievement that she has been safely crossing children and parents over Dawson Lane for 20 years.

“Congratulations from all the staff, governors, parents and children.”
