Visitors to Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley took a behind-the-scenes tour at a special event yesterday.
The tours were part of Heritage Open Days, organised by English Heritage, and gave people the opportunity to visit the museum’s store rooms and cellar – places usually closed off to the public.
Also at the museum was a textiles workshop, led by museums officer Sofia Maskin, where children and adults could learn techniques including tie-dye and stencilling.
Alan Richardson, visitor services supervisor at the museum, said: “It was very popular, especially the behind-the-schenes tour. They have been held here before and they are always very popular among the townspeople of Keighley.
Heritage Open Days are being held throughout the weekend and include events at Bradford Cathedral, City Hall, and the Bradford Reform Synagogue. For more details visit heritage opendays.org.uk.
