Haworth Through Time, by Steven Wood and Ian Palmer (Amberley, £12.99)
The changing face of Haworth is explored through a series of fascinating photographs matching its streets, buildings, people and rural scenes over the past century to photographs of the same locations taken in the present, leading readers through a timeline of events reflecting the changing face of the area.
Many of the winding streets and stone-built houses remain much the same as they did in the early 20th century, or mid to late 19th century. Bridgehouse Chapel and Sunday School is an exception; a photograph taken in 1900 (above) shows the building standing proud. The site is now occupied (right) by flats for the elderly, captured on a 21st century image.
