Passengers on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway were given a taste of wartime Britain at the weekend when they were joined by soldiers and airmen returning home on leave from fighting in the Second World War.

Members of the Home Guard and civilians of the period, played by actors, were also on the steam trains for the 1940s weekend while some staff and visitors were required to carry regulation gas masks.

A WRVS tea stall added to the wartime atmosphere.
