Police rescued a family after fire broke out in the building next to their Bradford home early today.

A woman and her three children were led to safety after fire broke out in an accountancy office in in Whetley Lane, Girlington, causing smoke to pour into their home.

They were taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Bradford and Fairweather Green fire crews attended the blaze and carried out a search in what crew watch manager Ronnie Goldwater described as “extreme conditions” to see if anyone else was trapped.

Investigations were today continuing into the cause of the fire, which broke out at 12.30am and is being treated as suspicious.
