Crimefighters joined firefighters to see the cutting-edge of rescue work this week.
Officers in Eccleshill Neigh-bourhood Policing Team were invited to Idle Fire Station yesterday to find out more about rescue operations.
It was a chance to see the fire service using specialist cutting equipment and casualty care skills up close.
Station Manager Andy Clayton said: “We work closely with the police at incidents like this so it’s important we both have a good understanding of the role we each play.
“I think its reassuring for people in our area to know that we are training together for if the worst happens.”
Sergeant Louise Gibson, of Eccleshill NPT, said: “Events like this help us refine tactics and training.”
Last year, for every person West Yorkshire firefighters rescued from a fire – they rescued nine from road crashes.
