Firefighters were forced to leave a blaze to burn itself out after youths threw stones at them.
The crew came under fire after they turned out to a rubbish fire at South Bradford Golf Course near Odsal Top at about 9pm yesterday.
"There were two white youth hurling large stones at the engine so we decided to retreat and let for fire burn itself out," said one of the Brighouse Station crew.
"We had to put our safety first. They just see the blue lights flashing and think we're the law,"
Police were called to the incident.
