Fifteen jobs have been lost at high street music retailer Zavvi after administrators closed its Bradford city centre store.
The store closed its doors at the Tyrrel Street site for the last time yesterday morning.
Across the country 446 workers have lost their jobs as the store’s administrators announced the closure of 18 shops.
The announcement came as administrators Ernst & Young said a further 360 Zavvi jobs were expected to be saved following sale agreements with rival HMV Music Limited and Head Entertainment LLP.
Tom Jack, joint administrator of Zavvi UK, said: “This is a fantastic result for the employees and customers of the sales concerned.
“Another five stores have been sold to HMV, meaning 111 employees will transfer across to HMV immediately and over the course of the next two weeks these Zavvi stores will be rebranded as HMV.
“In total, HMV has purchased 19 stores in the UK and Ireland securing jobs for 380 employees.
“Five stores have also been sold to Head Entertainment LLP with a further three stores expected to complete by tomorrow.
“This would ensure the transfer in total of another 249 jobs in a deal that also includes the sale of remaining Zavvi Limited stock.”
The sale of remaining stock means Zavvi will cease trading, resulting in the closure of the remaining stores by February 20 and the loss of 446 jobs.
