A 23-year-old man led police on a 100mph car chase round Bradford’s Canterbury Estate, a court heard.

Mohammed Hussain, of Southfield Lane, Great Horton, Bradford, was caught on a patrol car video camera racing another vehicle.

Bradford Crown Court was played footage of Hussain’s black VW Golf GT speeding past the parked police vehicle at 1.15am on September 16 last year.

The patrol car is seen at speeds of up to 100mph as it pursues Hussain for up to three miles, looping the loop round the estate.

Hussain’s car frequently speeds out of view as the police vehicle slows down for junctions and roundabouts.

Prosecutor Dave MacKay said yesterday that Hussain was now serving a four-and-a-half-year jail sentence for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm imposed at Preston Crown Court.

He will not be released until February 2011, the court heard.

Mr MacKay said the plea and case management hearing for the wounding allegation was heard in Preston the day before Hussain committed the dangerous driving offence in the early hours.

The court heard Hussain, who admitted dangerous driving, drove on the wrong side of the road and cut up another car during the police pursuit.

He abandoned his car in Dorset Street and was caught by police officers as he fled on foot.

The court heard in mitigation that Hussain did not injure anyone or cause any damage.

Judge Peter Benson sentenced Hussain to eight months’ imprisonment to run concurrently with his existing sentence.

He was also banned from driving for two and a half years.
