Bradford Council has welcomed a new £1.6 million national crime prevention campaign by the Home Office.
Adverts will appear in national and regional newspapers, television and radio over the next eight weeks carrying simple messages about how the public can make their homes safer.
Councillor Martin Smith, executive member and chairman of Bradford District Safer Communities partnership, said: “We welcome this campaign and will continue to work together with the police and other partners to make our communities as safe as possible.”
According to the British Crime Survey 36 per cent of burglaries occur in properties with unlocked doors and windows and the new campaign aims to make people aware of the simple steps they can take to protect their homes and valuables.
