Unemployed Bradford youngsters are hoping to emulate an award-winning teenager named one of the city’s young achievers after finding full-time work with the help of a course they have completed.

Tony Coates, 18, scooped the achieving economic well-being prize at last week’s Bradford Young Citizen Awards.

He recently secured a full-time job in Provident Financial’s debt-recovery department.

He had previously dropped out of sixth form college and was struggling to find work.

Tony was helped by attending a course aimed at helping jobless youngsters find work in administration roles.

The latest students on the course, run by Careers Bradford in partnership with The Prince’s Trust, were joined by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Howard Middleton, to celebrate completing their studies and work experience.

Janet Faulkner, of Careers Bradford, said: “We are working closely with partners, such as The Prince’s Trust, to help young people become better equipped to access employment opportunities.”

Young people interested in the course, or employers looking to take on administrative staff should call Janet Faulkner on (01274) 829400.
