A Bradford travel specialist is in line for further growth after winning a major four-year contract to provide public sector bodies with a range of business travel services.

Redfern Travel will act as a one-stop shop under a framework agreement reached with OGCbuying.solutions, the Government's leading procurement services organisation for the UK.

The firm, which has been providing travel advice since 1950, has doubled turnover since 2006 to about £22 million and expects this to increase in 2009.

The new deal builds on Redfern’s existing framework agreement under which the firm supplies rail booking and ticketing services to more than 100 Government clients Ian Wotton, managing director, said: “Our existing relationship with OGCbuying.solutions has proved to be very successful for us and this new contract provides us with a firm foundation to build on this success, not just this year but for the foreseeable future.”

Andy Machin, OGCbuying.solutions’ travel team manager, said: “This was a major procurement project conducted from a pan-Government perspective.”

Mr Wotton said: “Throughout 2008 we were contracting business at the rate of £1 million every month, and we have a further £4 million contracted to start trading in the first two months of 2009.

“Throughout the past year we have seen our success in the public sector spilling over into the private sector with some major contract wins.

“We have invested heavily in technologies to automate the travel management process with the result that we improve efficiencies both for our clients and ourselves.”
