Three people were taken to hospital after their car hit a barrier and spun across a road.

Firefighters had to cut a woman passenger free from the grey Skoda Octavia following the accident at about 7.45pm tonight.

She was put on a spinal board and taken to hospital after being freed.

The driver, a man believed to be in his 40s or 50s, and another woman were also taken to hospital for checks.

Police closed the road from Asda in Rooley Lane to the Dudley Hill roundabout for about 90 minutes.

Odsal watch manager Richard Hall said: “The front wheel had completely come off and the car was badly battered.”
