Police in Bradford are today appealing for information after a householder was subjected to a terrifying ordeal at the hands of five robbers at his Barkerend home last night.

The incident occurred at around 8.30pm at an address in Thursby Street. The 22-year old victim answered the door to five men, who assaulted him and barged into his house.

Two of the men, who were armed with a knife and what is believed to have been an imitation firearm, restrained the victim while the rest of the gang ransacked the house and stole a DVD player, a mobile phone, a digital camera and a small amount of cash.

All five men then left.

Detective Inspector Gerry O'Shea, of Bradford South police, said: "The complainant suffered no physical injuries but was shaken by the ordeal. It is possible that the suspects could live locally and that someone may have seen this group acting suspiciously in the area."

The suspects are described as one white and four Asian men all around 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in and aged in their late teens to early 20s.

The white man was wearing a black woolly hat and had stubble.

Of the Asian men, one was of average build with brown eyes, black hair and thin sideburns. A second was wearing a white Balaclava and black top. The third suspect was of average build and the fourth was wearing a black Balaclava and dark clothing.

Bradford South CID are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have any information to contact them on 0845 6060606 or via Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
