Fancy experiencing the trials and tribulations of being a football manager?

From tomorrow fans of the beautiful game will be able to manage their own team for the first time on a Nintendo DS hand-held console playing a game designed by a Bradford company.

Football Director DS has been jointly developed by Listerhills-based Four Door Lemon and Huddersfield firm Sports Direc-tor Ltd.

Budding managers can scout for new players and conduct deals in a transfer market drawing from more than 3,800 players in the game’s database.

They can hire and fire backroom staff, organise training regimes and have full responsibility over their team’s wages, contracts and dealings with the bank.

Game players can see the results of their hard work by watching the players run on to the pitch and play a match.

Simon Barratt, director of Four Door Lemon, said: “We believe we’ve made a great fun and accessible management game for everyone.

“We’re very proud to have again provided our Lemon Engine technology and services to power another great game from Yorkshire following on from Puzzler Collection and Little Britain: The Video Game.”

Four Door Lemon has been operating for about three years.

Mr Barratt runs the business with fellow computing expert Tom Waton. Between them they have more than 15 years of experience in the computer games industry.

The company helps oversee computer game projects from the planning stages through to their release, dealing with media companies in the USA and across Europe.

Roger Womack, director of Sports Director Ltd, said: “We’re proud that two Yorkshire companies have combined their talents and strengths to produce the first football management game on the Nintendo DS.

“With Football Director DS, it’s your opportunity to show how your club should be managed.”

A spokesman for the region’s trade association for the games sector, Game Republic, which is integrated with Screen York-shire, said: “Football Director DS is further proof of the talented, innovative and successful games companies we have in Yorkshire.”
