A world-leading communications expert received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bradford yesterday.
Dr Mo Ibrahim received the accolade for his pioneering role in the development of cellular radio communication systems and his contribution to the transformation of the communications infrastructure on the African continent.
It also acknowledges his work in promoting good governance among heads of state in Africa.
Dr Ibrahim graduated with an Masters degree in electronics and electrical engineering at the University in 1977.
Sudanese by birth, Dr Ibrahim is also the founder of Celtel International, one of Africa’s most successful companies. It operates in 15 African countries, covering more than a third of the continent’s population.
