The leadership at two Bradford primary schools has been strengthened by a decision to federate their governing bodies.

Governors at Holybrook Primary in Greengates and Parkland Primary in Thorpe Edge have voted to become the Federated Governing Body of Holybrook and Parkland Schools.

The move also involves David Jones, head teacher at Holybrook, becoming executive head teacher at both schools. There will also be heads of school at Parkland and Holybrook.

Both schools will remain separate with their own catchment areas – but will have a federated governing body from September.

David Jones, recently presented with the National College for School Leadership Award for Head Teacher of the Year in the primary sector of the North of England Teaching Awards, said: “I am really looking forward to working with the staff to bring about further improvements at both schools with guidance from the federated governing body. This decision will provide us with a springboard to a brighter future.”

John Gaskin, managing director of Education Bradford, said: “The new governing body will be able to share good practice, secure stronger leadership at both schools, provide greater opportunities for the staff."
