Police are targeting thieves in a new crackdown on crime in Bradford city centre car parks.
Parking areas where thefts from vehicles are on the increase have been identified and will be patrolled by officers in the Bradford City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Police Community Support Officers and Special Constables will be putting leaflets on cars, to advise owners on how to protect their vehicles.
Inspector Kevin Pickles, of the City Centre NPT, said: “We have identified car parks where items are regularly stolen from vehicles. Despite the use of CCTV and other security measures, offences are still being committed.
“We are using our resources to target offenders and help prevent any further thefts.”
Insp Pickles said: “Vehicle owners must play their part too by taking note of the advice on the leaflets – simple things such as not leaving valuables on display and locking your vehicle.
“Car park owners also have their part to play in cracking down on car crime.
“I would urge them to look at their security measures and check if they are working – if not they need to fix them or people will start to park in car parks that do.”
