A Bradford PR firm stepped back in time and put the kettle on to raise money for charity.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Howard Middleton, was guest of honour at the ‘Blooming Great Tea Party’ held by Approach PR at its office in Little Germany.

The company’s all-female team was dressed in 1950s costumes, serving home-made cakes and tea in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

“We served up some good old-fashioned Yorkshire hospitality, including tea served in kitsch teapots, home-made cakes and raffles with luxury prizes,” said Approach PR managing director Suzanne Johns.

“After a recent visit to Bradford’s Marie Curie hospice I was moved by the commitment, care and dedication of staff. As a local business we feel a sense of responsibility to give something back to the community. That Friday afternoon cuppa could make a difference to someone’s life.”

The event raised funds for Bradford’s Maudsley Street hospice.

Marie Curie’s Yorkshire regional fundraising manager, Brian Curran, said: “Support from every corner of the community is invaluable for a hospice like ours.”
