A BRADFORD charity is inviting older people to take part in a survey in a bid to find ways to tackle loneliness.

Age UK Bradford District wants older people to complete a questionnaire so they can come up with solutions to try and ease the loneliness crisis.

According to the charity, loneliness currently affects more than 1.3 million older people in the UK.

Hadji Singh, of Age UK Bradford District, said: "Many of the people we speak to in the community tell us that they can often find opportunities to interact with others during the day but find evenings lonely with only the TV for company.

"Some have also told us that they can feel nervous to go out on an evening, so don't venture out as they once did.

"To better understand how to help address the issue, the charity is asking older people to complete a questionnaire."

The charity is looking at whether digital friendship groups would help to tackle the loneliness crisis.

These groups would give older people the chance to connect digitally at home with others who have shared interests.
