SOLAR panels could be installed on the roof of a listed city centre building if new plans are approved.
York House on the corner of Upper Piccadilly and Manor Row was built as a Gentleman’s Club in 1866, and has also served as a police station.
It is Grade II listed, and was converted into flats in 2006.
A planning application has now been submitted to Bradford Council by Free 24/7 Energy Ltd to install 31 solar panels on the building’s flat roof.
The application says the work will “improve the Energy Efficiency the of the building and comfort of its residents.”
It adds: “A range of energy efficient upgrades are being proposed for the building to achieve an EPC rating C (for the apartments) and the installation of these Solar Panels are essential to achieving this.
“The solar panels will not be visible from the roadside and there will be no changes made to the elevations or structure of the building.”
A decision on the application is expected in May.
