HUDDERSFIELD Hospital, part of the Circle Health Group, is launching a new Private GP service on 8th April. Like everything the hospital does, it is aimed at enhancing the quality and access to care for patients in Huddersfield and surrounding West Yorkshire.

The team of experienced and compassionate doctors at Huddersfield Hospital is committed to providing exceptional care because they understand the importance of having access to quality healthcare that’s tailored to your personal needs. They know, too, how important it is for patients to be seen when they want and need to, whether that’s for a consultation to treat an illness or because they would like to speed up the process of being referred to a consultant and getting the procedure they require.

Everything they do and all of the services on offer at Huddersfield Hospital are geared towards enhancing the patient experience.

“At Huddersfield Hospital meeting the changing needs of our patients is of paramount importance to us so we are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Private GP service, expanding our current range of specialties and offerings,” said Gareth Hobson, the hospital’s Executive Director.

“We are eager to witness the positive impact it will bring to our patients by providing them with efficient and top-quality healthcare services.”

The new Private GP service offers 30-minute appointments – either face-to-face or via telephone for those who can’t or don’t want to travel to the hospital.

Aimed specifically at lessening the time it takes for patients to be diagnosed and put on an appropriate treatment pathway, these appointments are also for anyone who is looking for general health advice, requires a check-up or a consultation for an acute or chronic illness, would like confidential advice or wants a medication review or a private prescription issuing. In fact, these appointments can be used for anything you’d see your NHS GP for.

The appointments – available on Monday and Thursday evenings – are part of an unrushed, patient-centred approach that’s flexible to your needs and offered within a modern, comfortable and fully equipped hospital.

Apart from ensuring you can get to see a GP at a time that’s convenient to you and with no waiting, the fact that the service is based in Huddersfield Hospital means you will have speedy access to specialised diagnostics like blood tests, X-rays and scans, should they be needed, with test results usually available within 48 hours.

So how does it work? And what happens if you need further treatment?

Appointments can be booked online for a time to suit you and cost £95 for an initial 30-minute appointment and £65 for each 15-minute follow-up appointment.

If the GP you see suggests blood or other tests or a scan, and you decide to proceed with these at the hospital, they will be charged as extras. The self pay team will be on hand to discuss your options with you.

If needed the GP can also make an immediate referral to a consultant or specialist at the hospital. While these appointments and any further treatment will be carried out on a self-pay basis (with various payment options available), the benefit is that this treatment – including operations – can usually be carried out in a much shorter timeframe. In some cases it could be just a matter of a few weeks before you have an operation, subject to availability.

Whether or not your consultation and any findings go onto your NHS record is at your discretion. This information can be kept on a separate private record, or, if you’d prefer, can be sent to your GP practice.

Please note that this service is for over 18s only and appointment booking is required as walk-ins are not accepted.
