THE dad of a man being arrested tried to "intervene" and was detained too.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Halifax Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) posted on its Facebook page about a double arrest they made on Sunday.

The team was arresting a man in the Mixenden area on suspicion of burglary and driving offences when a relative reportedly got involved.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "During his arrest his father thought he could intervene, obstructing officers, so was also arrested."

One of the men was charged while the other was released under investigation, according to the spokesperson.
