A FORMER working men’s club can be converted into a new home for a Bradford church.

A planning application to convert the Central Division Working Men’s Club off Manchester Road into a place of worship has been approved by Bradford Council.

The plans were submitted by The Redeemed Christian Church of God – which has held services in several different venues across the city since opening in Bradford in 2002.

The church has operated from a building on Nelson Street on a long lease since 2010.

The church said the move to the ex-working men’s club would mean they would finally have a permanent home.

One person had objected to the plans, saying the car park attached to the building was regularly used by residents living nearby.

In response planning officers said: “The use of the site by others is not in the control of the Planning Service and as this is private land it should not be used by neighbouring residents without an agreement with the landowners and therefore is a private matter.”

The application was approved late last week.
