THEY are the best days of our lives - or so we are told. Not everyone would agree, but being at school does offer benefits we are unlikely to see again - the chance to learn new things every day, time to spend with friends and the opportunity to take part in many different craft, scientific and sporting activities.
We grow up to appreciate all this. Here we look back at a playground scene at Frizinghall First School, Salisbury Road,l taken in 1988. Playgrounds were the scene of games such as hopscotch, tag, and football, as well as activities such as skipping and playing catch.
Playtime gives youngsters chance to take a break and get some fresh air.
