BRIT Awards viewers have said they would "rather watch paint dry" than continue watching the "dead" show.

The BRIT Awards returned to our screens tonight, seeing huge names in the music industry like RAYE and Kylie Minogue come together to celebrate the breadth of talent in the UK.

However, despite an electric performance from Dua Lipa, many viewers were left "bored" and "cringing" as the show continued.

Viewers slam BRIT Awards as many left 'bored' and 'cringing'

Viewers took to X, formally known as Twitter, to express their displeasure with the awards show.

One user said that the ceremony had "gone down market" and slammed the presenters, claiming that they had "no life in them".

Another shared this sentiment, adding: "Erm is there anyone awake - no audience noise at all. Bring back the days when everyone was well-oiled and being rock stars. As for the presenters - it’s your job to wake the audience up! Boring!"

One user said that they "would rather watch paint dry than this stalemate show," while another wrote: "Brit’s is DEAD AF PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA What’s happening."

Other viewers were left 'cringing' at the show with one user telling others: "Complete and utter cringe at the Brit awards."

However, one person was more hopeful, saying: "It might liven up a bit."

'Emotional' Raye says her record number of BRIT Award nominations feels like a 'miracle'

This comes after an "emotional" Raye described how her record number of nominations at the BRIT Awards feels like a "miracle".

Talking on the red carpet, she said that this year has been a strong one for female artists, adding: "Girl power all the way."

Discussing her year-long journey which saw her leave her record label, she said: "It feels like, I can only describe it as a miracle… it's emotional."

She said that a year ago she felt "heartbroken" before receiving acclaim from the music industry for her My 21st Century Blues album.

This year's awards have seen Raye nominated for a record seven categories including for the Best Song and Best Album.

The BRIT Awards airs on ITV1 and ITVX tonight (Saturday, March 2).
