LONG delays remain but all lanes have now reopened on the M62 this afternoon after a car collided with the central reservation.

Emergency services were scrambled to the scene of the crash which took place just before 2pm today (Saturday) on the M62 westbound between Junction 23 (Huddersfield) and Junction 22 (Rishworth Moor).

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called to the M62 westbound near junction 22 at 1.54pm today to a report a car had collided with the central reservation.

"No injuries were reported and work has been ongoing to recover the vehicle involved."

In a post earlier on X, formerly Twitter, the West Yorkshire Police Force Command Hub said: "Due to a road traffic accident traffic is currently being held on the M62 westbound just prior to Junction 22.

"We are working to open lane one however lanes two and three will remain closed with delays likely."

However, the WYP Force Command Hub recently posted that "all lanes have reopened".

A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "There has been an accident and we sent resources to the scene."

Although lanes on both sides of the motorway had to be closed earlier, recent traffic alerts are reporting "long delays and heavy traffic" remain even though "all lanes have reopened".
