NINE out of 10 families that applied for a secondary school place in the Bradford district for this September have been offered one of their top three preferred schools.

Of the families that applied for a Year 7 place for September, around 91 per cent have been offered a place at one of their top three preferences.

More than 79 per cent of children have been offered a place at their first preference school.

In total, Bradford Council received 8,140 applications for places at secondary schools starting this autumn.

Parents and carers across the district have been receiving emails today to let them know which schools their children have been offered.

Parents could also log into the council’s online system from midnight to discover where their children had been offered a place.

Parents and carers who did not apply online, or opted out of emails, will receive their offer in the post. Families that are expecting letters are asked not to contact the council before March 8 to allow time for their letters to arrive.

Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for education, employment, and skills, said: “We appreciate how much it means to families to secure a place for their child at the school of their choice and we try very hard to achieve this wherever we possibly can.

"We continue to work hard to ensure that our secondary schools have the capacity to meet demand for places."
