THE installation of 14 EV charging points at a depot will help with the electrification of the district’s bus fleet.

Transdev have been granted planning permission to add new electric infrastructure to its Chapel Lane depot in Keighley.

The work will see 14 bus sized EV charging points and two electricity sub stations created in the site.

The application said: “This proposal seeks to upgrade the existing site electric facility in order to provide sufficient capacity for the electric bus fleet.

“The proposal will allow the continuation of Transdev’s major electrification role out of the bus fleet to create a more sustainable transport system.”

Last year, the company announced it had ordered a number of Mercedes-Benz E-Citaro all-electric single-deck buses after successful trials on the local Shuttle route and between Harrogate and Knaresborough.

Approving the scheme, Bradford Council planning officers said: “The Sustainability team welcomes this positive investment in electric bus infrastructure and has no objection to the proposal.”
