THERE’S a rare chance to see a popular folk act, when Tom Bliss heads to Bradford’s Topic Folk Club on Thursday, February 22.

Says Tony Charnock at the Topic: “This is going to be something of a special night. Tom Bliss was well-known and liked on the acoustic music scene, both local and national, as a full-time musician some years ago. Since ‘retiring’ as such he has only done occasional small tours to raise money for the MS society after his daughter was diagnosed with the disease.

“Multi-instrumentalist and a fine singer/songwriter and musician (guitar, mandocello, dulcimer, whistle, concertina, harp), Tom is back to raise funds for MS research. Tom has raised £7,000 so far and hopes to make it £10,000 by spring.

“We’re delighted that Tom has chosen the Topic for one of his current series of gigs: his set features his most popular and powerful work, and he’s joined on this leg by fellow former Lost Lark, Den Miller (guitar, harmonica, autoharp etc), who is well-known to Topic audiences. They will be singing some of Den’s most powerful and popular songs too.

This is in effect a charity night; pay as you feel on the door (subject to usual entry prices as a minimum). For more about Tom’s campaign go to tombliss.co.uk

The Topic Folk Club meets on Thursdays at Groove Pad, Shipley, from 7.30pm.
