A community hub in Keighley has a new roof, thanks to £162,000 from the Keighley Towns Fund.

Central Hall, on Alice Street, has been used by community organisations and local businesses, since its renovation in 2010.

Originally built as a chapel, the building is now a contemporary space but a leaking roof had been causing concern for a number years.

Centre Manager Debbie Atkinson said: “We’d previously had significant, ongoing issues with leaks, which impacted on the rest of the building.

“Thanks to the Keighley Towns Fund, we were able to use local contractors Broomhill Roofing to re-insulate, re-felt and completely re-roof the building, which has already had such a positive impact, and will continue to do so for years to come.”

Acting chair of Keighley Towns Fund Liz Barker said: “Central Hall is a beautiful historic building and it’s at the heart of Keighley. Places like this mean so much to people and to keep the buildings functioning at their best is crucial.”

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, added: “Central Hall has become so much more than just a space to hire. The team there supports people, organisations and businesses in Keighley to thrive, as a community, and I’m delighted we’ve been able to support them through the Keighley Towns Fund.”
